WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) today issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 3, The Keystone XL Pipeline Act, which would approve the TransCanada's application to begin constructing the pipeline. The Keystone XL Pipeline Act, passed the House with bipartisan support by a vote of 266-153-1.

"Construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline will alleviate the world's dependence on unfriendly nations for energy. The United States and Canada will also increase our own energy independence, all while creating good jobs at home for all Americans. The Keystone XL Pipeline Act is one of the solutions that America needs. This legislation will create 42,000 good-paying jobs and lower the cost of gasoline for my neighbors in South Florida. I appreciate the bipartisan effort to pass this piece of legislation, and I want to thank Rep. Kevin Cramer (ND) for his outstanding leadership in bringing this bill to the House Floor."

The Keystone XL Pipeline will have a total capacity of 830,000 barrels per day, and will create approximately 42,000 jobs. The project has now waited 2,303 days for its required Presidential Permit.
