ICYMI: Whistleblower Sounds Alarm on Lack of Zika Testing for Puerto Rican Inmates
"The Federal Burea of Prisons estimates that there are currently 550 inmates from Puerto Rico at FCI (Federal Correctional Institute) Miami, none of whom have been tested for the Zika virus. Acording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) latest report, Puerto Rico is currently the U.S. territory with the greatest amount of Zika cases. It's necessary that when these prisoners are transferred to FCI Miami or any other prison, that they be screened for Zika in order to ensure the safety of the guards and other prisoners. On Thursday, August 18th, I will be addressing Zika related concerns during a roundtable at my District Office in Miami. Congress must take action to stop the spreading of this disease."
