Miami, Florida—This morning Rep. Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) participated in a Miami-Dade County Emergency Management press conference regarding Hurricane Matthew.
“On October 3, Mayor Gimenez declared a state of emergency for Miami-Dade County in anticipation of the potentially devastating impacts of Hurricane Matthew. Governor Rick Scott has also called on President Obama for an emergency declaration for 28 Florida Counties all along Florida’s east coast. We are in communication with FEMA, which is evaluating this request, and ask for its expeditious approval. If after the storm it becomes evident that there is a need for Congress to provide supplemental funding, we are prepared to lead those efforts. Remember this is a dangerous storm, so it is important that we take this seriously and stay indoors.”
