Washington, D.C.—It was recently announced that Miami-Dade County is the recipient of a $960,000 grant for the FY 2016 Pilot Program for Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Planning.

“I am pleased that Miami-Dade County is the recipient of this grant which will be used to improve transit development in South Florida. This nearly $1 million will provide the county with guidance for future transit planning surrounding the East-West Rapid Transit Corridor which connects important areas of our community, including Miami Intermodal Center and Florida International University. Because the corridor is divided by a main expressway, it’s important that it be planned and executed carefully, and that’s what this grant will help to do.”

This funding was made available under the FAST Act, which was signed into law in December of 2015. Rep. Curbelo, who championed this long-term surface transportation legislation, included several South Florida initiatives to make our community safer and provide relief from traffic congestion.
