U.S. Representative Carlos Curbelo
CBS Miami’s Eliott Rodriguez: “This is National Park Week across the country, and that includes here in South Florida at Everglades National Park. We were at Shark Valley today where Miami Congressman Carlos Curbelo helped show off some of the attractions it has to offer – that includes this guy. A chance to see a big gator just getting a little fresh air.
“Last summer, Congressman Curbelo helped secure $10 million that will to go toward restoring the Everglades.”
Congressman Carlos Curbelo: “This is a unique ecosystem – the only one of its kind in the entire world – and it is also the site of the greatest restoration project in the history of the world. We are investing billions and billions of dollars to restore Everglades National Park and the Everglades to what it once was.”
Rodriguez: “And as part of National Park Week, the Park Service is offering a special deal on lifetime passes for anyone over 62. They cost just $10 and are good at every National Park. People are riding bikes out there. It’s a great place to do it and this is a pretty good time of year to do it.”

With over 330 million visits to America’s national parks in 2016, our national parks are more popular than ever, and support nearly $30 billion in economic activity annually and more than a quarter million private-sector jobs, with many of those benefits going right to the local communities at the gateways of our parks.
