Today, Representative Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) released the following statement regarding his vote in support of the Financial CHOICE Act, H.R. 10, which passed the House earlier today.

“For seven years, the consequences of Dodd-Frank have crushed our community banks and left small businesses across the country without the resources to grow, create jobs, and serve our communities. Today’s passage of the Financial CHOICE Act, which I was proud to support, is a critical step toward ending the uncertainty that has plagued our financial system. By providing regulatory relief for community banks, holding Wall Street and Washington accountable, and ending the big bank bailouts of Dodd-Frank, the CHOICE Act will provide more options for American consumers and give hard-working Americans more certainty to plan their financial future.”

The CHOICE Act includes legislation Curbelo co-sponsored that provides greater protections for senior citizens from financial exploitation. In addition, it includes a bill Curbelo co-sponsored that will ease burdens on smaller lending institutions that ensure greater access to residential mortgages for qualified borrowers.
