Representative Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) released the following statement welcoming a $6,524,894 U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant for runway rehabilitation at Key West International Airport. Earlier this year, Curbelo also announced a $4.1 million DOT grant for the airport’s noise mitigation project.

“Ensuring Key West International remains operationally safe for incoming and departing aircrafts is critical to Key West’s tourism-based economy, small businesses, and families whose livelihoods depend on an uninterrupted stream of visitors,” Curbelo said. “I look forward to continuing my support for sound legislation that makes our communities more prosperous.”

Funding for this program was made available in H.R. 244, “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017,” legislation supported  by Rep. Curbelo. This grant is in addition to $7.5 million Rep. Curbelo secured for the airport in August of 2016.
