ICYMI: Curbelo Discusses South Florida Priorities in House Defense Spending Bill and Bipartisanship in Health Policy
Representative Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) joined “Morning Magazine with Bill Becker” this morning to discuss the House passed H.R. 3219, the Make America Secure Act, which included two amendments introduced by Curbelo. The amendments provide funding for projects like the Florida Keys Water Quality Improvement Project (FKWQIP) and expanded research and development for energy storage technologies.
Additionally, as Vice Chairman of the Problem Solvers Caucus, Curbelo discussed the recent release of the Caucus’ bipartisan health proposal and the need for bipartisan collaboration in U.S. health policy.
“So, it’s a healthy mix of Republican ideas and Democratic ideas to make this healthcare system work better, and I really think that’s where our focus needs to be now,” Curbelo said. “Republicans obviously have the burden of trying to do this because we, as a party, campaigned against the ACA and focused on all of its flaws for seven years. We did have a responsibility to try to change it, but that hasn’t worked out. So, we must work now with our Democratic colleagues and deliver a better health care system for this country.”
