Representative Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), who was the first Republican Member of Congress to call for Scott Pruitt to resignas Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), issued the following statement regarding Pruitt’s resignation earlier today:

“This step was long overdue. Scott Pruitt was never the right choice to lead the EPA, and his scandal-plagued tenure has been an embarrassment to the Agency, and grossly disrespectful to American taxpayers. While this doesn’t undo any of the reckless policy decisions Pruitt has made, it does provide an opportunity for us to stop being distracted by his misconduct and refocus on the consequential decisions being made at the EPA every day.”

Curbelo is the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus. He first called for Pruitt to resign in April of this year, and has previously criticized several of Pruitt’s policy positions.
