Curbelo Comments on Strong October Jobs Report
Representative Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), South Florida’s only member of the House Ways and Means Committee released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor reported the economy added 250,000 jobs in October:
“The economic recovery is finally pushing further into our society, as optimism and confidence continues to drive our employers to invest more in their workers and consumers to support our economy,” Curbelo said. “With wages continuing to rise and new jobs continuously being added, its more important than ever before to ensure Congress works to support policies that ensure this economic expansion continues to reach as many Americans as possible.”
According to the U.S. Department of Labor average hourly private-sector earnings were up 3.1 percent over the previous year, the biggest jump since 2009. In September, they were up 2.8 percent, and the unemployment remained at 3.7 percent the lowest in nearly 50 year’s.
