“Today marks the 14th anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks to ever occur on American soil. September 11 will forever be a day when Americans mourn those who lost their lives and reflect on the unique virtues that allowed our nation to come together to grieve during those difficult times.  We remember the countless acts of bravery that were so commonly displayed on that fateful day.  To the families of the first responders who lost their lives and to the passengers of Flight 93 who rose to the occasion to prevent another attack from reaching its target–please know a grateful nation is eternally indebted to your loved one’s sacrifices.  They are heroes.

Over the past 14 years, hundreds of thousands of valiant men and women have worn our nation’s uniform to bestow justice on the cowardly terrorists who failed in their attempt to break the American spirit. We offer our sincere thanks to military personnel who have spent months, sometimes years, away from their families. Their service to our nation, and their willingness to pay the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy today, deserves the utmost respect from all Americans.

We will never forget the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001. Our nation will forever be different; we have changed, but together we have persevered. May God continue to bless America.”
