Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep Curbelo (FL-26) released the following statement of commendation to the Republic of China (Taiwan) on their election this past weekend:

“I congratulate the people of Taiwan for electing its first female President, Tsai Ing-wen, an extraordinary victory. During my first year in Congress, I worked with current President Ma's government, and I applaud them for their diligent efforts to promote democracy. I commend Taiwan on this momentous occasion; the United States is fortunate to have an ally and friend in them. The world is a better place when all of its democracies are able participate in the exchange of ideas, and I look forward to continue working with the new government.”
