Washington, D.C.—Today, Rep. Carlos Curbelo (FL-26) surpassed 50 co-sponsors on his bill, H.R.4247, The Cuban Immigrant Work Opportunity Act. Rep. Curbelo released the following statement:

“I am pleased that this bipartisan bill has received abundant support in Congress as well as in our South Florida community. I thank my colleagues from across the country who have co-sponsored the Cuban Immigrant Work Opportunity Act, including: Financial Services Chairman Hensarling, Homeland Security Chairman McCaul, Rules Chairman Sessions, Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Miller, 18 members of the Florida delegation, unanimous support of the Cuban American Members in the House, and Senators Rubio and Nelson on the Senate companion. The groundswell of support for this issue will help to ensure that those escaping the oppressive Castro dictatorship are protected while guaranteeing that America’s kindness is not exploited. I am optimistic about the future of this legislation, and I look forward to further developing the Cuban Immigrant Work Opportunity Act in Congress.”
